Books with No Words
Get ready for creative storytelling! Wordless books can actually build important literacy skills. By looking at the characters and their actions, children can create stories in their own words. We will work on listening skills, vocabulary and comprehension. Students will also discover the fun of The Book With No Pictures. Imagine what your book will say!
I am Jane, and I have taught in Orono Schools my entire career- 24 years to date. I am the Kindergarten through 2nd Grade Challenge Teacher. I teach a Thinking Skills curriculum in all K-1 classrooms and work with groups of students in second grade, so Orono's youngest learners know me well! Some of my best childhood memories are of my mom taking me to the library and being able to spend as much time as I wanted exploring books. Reading is joy, and books are gifts. Building curiosity and engagement with wordless picture books is a perfect gateway to loving literature for a lifetime.
