    Time for some spring cleaning; are you ready to get organized? If you want more organization in your life but wonder where to start, you'll love this class! You'll learn tips to begin, strategies to maintain your space and how to identify which organizing systems will work best for you. This is a highly personalized class so feel free to bring questions about spaces in your home that leave you feeling stumped or overwhelmed.
  • Macrame Plant Hangers

    Have you filled all the open areas of your home with beautiful house plants and need to start moving up?! Create a beautiful, simple chroma plant hanger! The natural cord used for the majority of the hanger is a quality cord with great texture. You can customize the hanger by adding one or two colors to the top and bottom knots. The colored cord comes in a wide variety of colors. A natural wooden ring is used to secure the hanger and can fit a wide variety of pot sizes.
  • National Cheese Week Charcuterie Board!

    Did you know it's National Cheese Week? What better way to celebrate than building a charcuterie board filled with different types of cheeses! Meats and accompaniments will also be included. Laura from Fig and Ivy Charcuterie will provide step-by-step guidance in the arrangement of your boards. Have fun with family and friends during class at a local venue, the Iron Exchange in Maple Plain. Due to table space, food is available for purchase before or after class. However, beverages are available at anytime. A link to pay the ingredients fee of $45 will be sent one week prior to class. Bring home a new experience, a helpful grocery list for future boards PLUS an artfully arranged 10” charcuterie board (serves 5-6 people) to enjoy right away! *Due to cost of high-quality ingredients, any cancellations or no shows after the three business day cancellation policy, will still be responsible to pay the supply fee of $45. You are welcome to pick up your supplies at the Iron Exchange (pickup within 24 hours) if interested in completing a charcuterie board on your own.
  • Nature Immersion Experience

    An opportunity to be guided through a nature-centered setting to experience nature therapy, otherwise known as forest bathing. This practice (shinrin yoku in Japan) has many health benefits, such as overall wellness, decreased feelings of depression and anxiety, increased energy and improved feelings of happiness.     Spend a fun and relaxing night painting. Local artist Kevin Kluever will guide painters of all abilities through a piece from start to finish. Explore your creativity and create your own masterpiece. REQUIRED MATERIALS: 11" x 14" or 8" x 10" canvas board.     If you’re looking for a higher level of pickleball competition, this group is for you! The drilling in this program will be minimal with some focus on the 3rd shot drop or the advantages of stacking. The majority of the time will be used for competitive play. An instructor will be present for court rotations, filling in for match play, answering any questions and providing helpful hints upon request. This group is more competitive, but still fun! You will need to determine your skill rating upon enrolling into this program. This program will accommodate skill ratings of 4.0 and higher. Please visit USA Pickleball to best match a skill rating to your level of play. NEW THIS SEASON: There will be monthly sessions of Advanced play. Each session will be 4 weeks long. Please register online to reserve a spot for each month. You may register for multiple months at one time. There is not a drop in opportunity for these sessions. *Orono Activities Center membership discounts do not apply for this program.

  • Pickleball Private & Small Group Lessons

    Whether you are just starting out or looking to further your pickleball play, Paul can customize a plan to improve your game at all levels. For group lessons, each player from the group must register individually. Please register online to add your name to the waitlist. Once all players from the group have registered, we will connect you with Paul, the instructor, to coordinate a date/time that works for all. You will be charged for the lesson after it has been scheduled. If you are a "No Show" for a scheduled lesson, you are still responsible for the fee. Lessons can be scheduled outdoors at the Orono Intermediate School courts in late Spring. Locations may change due to weather and maintenance schedules. This sport is a combination of ping-pong, badminton and tennis, yet is much easier to learn than any of these. We base this class on practicing the essential elements of the game such as the serve, the return, the forehand and backhand, the dink shot and the importance of court positioning and shot selection. Soon you will understand why pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the U.S.!

In each session, we will focus on one skill set and then implement it into our games. The sessions will open with a warm-up, a description of the “shot of the day” and then a series of drills to practice that shot. Then we will spend time practicing your new and improved shot in live play!

    Plein Air Painting

    Learn the art of capturing the light by painting outdoors. Local artist Kevin Kluever will guide you on how to paint with acrylics in nature. Classes will meet at the Orono Rotary Learning Pavillion in the Oliver Greib Abbot Environmental Learning Center to capture the natural surroundings. Please bring a canvas of your choice - any size or type.

    Not able to attend the Wedding Dance Rescue class, but still looking for some guidance for the big day? Feel free to register for a 75-minute private wedding dance lesson with Deanna!   • Spring Roll Symphony! Crafting Crispy & Fresh Spring Roll Delights - Virtual Class

    No need to look beyond your own kitchen for restaurant quality spring rolls! Join Tess as she walks you through the process of creating two types of spring rolls bursting with a symphony of flavors bold and bright enough to wake up any and all taste buds. Your choice of meat (chicken or pork) and veggies will fill the crispy spring rolls and fresh veggies and precooked protein of choice will fill the fresh spring rolls. Participants will be able to customize filling ingredients and seasonings according to their taste or dietary preferences. We will learn the technique to create fillings, and how to wrap, roll and cook these delightful packets of bright deliciousness! Participants will receive a list of ingredients in advance of the class with enough time for shopping and preparation. This class will take place on ZOOM and participants will receive instructions on how to access the class prior to it starting. One registration fee includes immediate family members living in the same home. Adult supervision is required for children participating.

    Are you ready to tap into your natural creativity this summer? Join us for a 12 week adventure with 6 different meeting times working with the book "Conscious Creativity" by Philippa Stanton. The meetings will take place at The Vintage Storyteller, which will provide opportunities to stretch ourselves creatively through discussion and engagement with our surroundings in new ways. We will pique our curiosity and connect with our creative practice working through different chapters on looking, documenting, texture, color, the senses, atmosphere, light and composition. You will be guided on how to breathe creativity back into your life, stimulating our imagination and reinvigorating our creative lives.
