They just don't have the verbal skills to say “hey, I’m right in the middle of something, just give me another 10 minutes”. Leaving a playdate, getting out the door in the morning, coming to the dinner table, etc. They live in the moment and don’t have a good concept of time. It's doubtful that he’ll ever grin broadly, drop his toys in the sandbox and hop into his stroller to go home for a nap; but, with patience and diplomacy, you can help him take a few steps forward.
