30 total hours of classroom driver's training required by the State of Minnesota.
Earn your lifeguard certification from the American Red Cross. Our lifeguard certification courses are designed to ensure that you are properly trained in the event of a water emergency. Red Cross Lifeguard Certification is valid for two years from the date of completion. This course will meet in person and online and includes lifeguard skills, CPR, First Aid and AED training. We are hiring! Orono Aquatics staff have reimbursement opportunities for training courses.

Lavinia Pottios is the former Aquatic Coordinator and Swim Coach at Orono. She continues to teach CPR, First Aid and various aquatic programs for Orono on a part-time basis. She also was the Aquatic Coordinator for the local chapter of the American Red Cross and has taught at other facilities such as Williston Racquet Club and Courage Center and is currently employed by Jones-Harrison Residence as the Arthritis Coordinator.
