  • Fused Glass Open Studio

    Fused Glass Open Studio provides time and space to create fused glass projects for beginner and advanced participants. A facilitator will be on hand for advice and support. A $25 supply fee will be collected at the studio for each new punch card. Participants are asked to bring their own glass (COE90-preferred), cutting tools and molds (sharing of materials is also an option). It is recommended that participants have taken at least one fused glass class before joining Open Studio. Punch cards have 8 punches and are valid for 12 months.

    Get Growing - At Home STEM Kit

    Celebrate Spring and the joys of growing veggies as cute as children themselves. Use full-spectrum grow lights and adjustable circular vents to control humidity and air flow as you start 36 seedlings. Featuring transparent grow trays to observe root growth and amazing seed varieties that have been carefully chosen for their ability to withstand rough handling and quick germination.   • Glass Mosaic Bird Bath

    This bird bath is made with a terra-cotta drip tray. It is decorated with pieces of stained glass then grouted at the next class. This beautiful bird bath can be placed on the ground, on a wrought iron stand or other fun options. If weather permits, we will grout outside. A $15 supply fee is payable to the instructor at class. Call to register participants ages 12-17 (must attend with an enrolled adult).

    Lap Swim

    Dates: January 3 - May 31 Monday, Wednesday & Friday: 6:15 - 7:30 am Tuesday & Thursday Lunchtime Lap: 12:00 - 1:00 pm (Locker rooms are available) There are six lanes available for lap swim and the diving well is accessible for self-guided aqua exercise. Morning lap swim is open to adults and students over 15 years of age. Lunchtime lap swim is for adults 18 years or older. Check-in at the Community Education office through Door E24. Please bring your ID for entry into the school building.   • Macrame Plant Hangers

    Have you filled all the open areas of your home with beautiful house plants and need to start moving up?! Create a beautiful, simple chroma plant hanger! The natural cord used for the majority of the hanger is a quality cord with great texture. You can customize the hanger by adding one or two colors to the top and bottom knots. The colored cord comes in a wide variety of colors. A natural wooden ring is used to secure the hanger and can fit a wide variety of pot sizes.

U.S. Masters Swimming is a national membership-oriented nonprofit that provides membership benefits to swimmers across the country. Self-led with swim workouts available upon request.     Nature Immersion Experience

    An opportunity to be guided through a nature-centered setting to experience nature therapy, otherwise known as forest bathing. This practice (shinrin yoku in Japan) has many health benefits, such as overall wellness, decreased feelings of depression and anxiety, increased energy and improved feelings of happiness.   • Navigating the College Application Process

    Applying to college can be one of the most complex projects a teen undertakes: multiple application platforms; different tasks, requirements and deadlines; and a lot of details to manage. This presentation will give juniors and their families an overview of the nuts and bolts of applying to college today and practical guidance on how to support your teen. Attendees will leave with tips on the application process and a suggested timeline to reduce stress in the fall. There will be ample time for questions.

    Open Swim

    Payment is taken at the pool - cash or check accepted. $6 per person or $18 per family (up to 5 people) You do not need to pre-register. Drop in when your schedule allows. Two lanes will be available for lap swim.

    Spend a fun and relaxing night painting. Local artist Kevin Kluever will guide painters of all abilities through a piece from start to finish.   • Pickleball Advanced Play

    If you’re looking for a higher level of pickleball competition, this group is for you! The drilling in this program will be minimal with some focus on the 3rd shot drop or the advantages of stacking. The majority of the time will be used for competitive play. An instructor will be present for court rotations, filling in for match play, answering any questions and providing helpful hints upon request. This group is more competitive, but still fun! You will need to determine your skill rating upon enrolling into this program. This program will accommodate skill ratings of 4.0 and higher. Please visit USA Pickleball to best match a skill rating to your level of play. NEW THIS SEASON: There will be monthly sessions of Advanced play. Each session will be 4 weeks long. Please register online to reserve a spot for each month. You may register for multiple months at one time. There is not a drop in opportunity for these sessions. *Orono Activities Center membership discounts do not apply for this program.

    Whether you are just starting out or looking to further your pickleball play, Paul can customize a plan to improve your game at all levels. For group lessons, each player from the group must register individually. Please register online to add your name to the waitlist. Once all players from the group have registered, we will connect you with Paul, the instructor, to coordinate a date/time that works for all. You will be charged for the lesson after it has been scheduled. If you are a "No Show" for a scheduled lesson, you are still responsible for the fee. Lessons can be scheduled outdoors at the Orono Intermediate School courts in late Spring. Locations may change due to weather and maintenance schedules.   • Pickleball Skills & Drills - Beginner

    Join us for an introductory class to learn all about the equipment, court, scoring and rules of pickleball. This sport is a combination of ping-pong, badminton and tennis, yet is much easier to learn than any of these. We base this class on practicing the essential elements of the game such as the serve, the return, the forehand and backhand, the dink shot and the importance of court positioning and shot selection. Soon you will understand why pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the U.S.!
  • Pickleball Skills & Drills - Intermediate

    If you’ve progressed to the point where you are enjoying the friendly competition of the game, but also would prefer to start winning against your friends, this class is for you! In each session, we will focus on one skill set and then implement it into our games. The sessions will open with a warm-up, a description of the “shot of the day” and then a series of drills to practice that shot. Then we will spend time practicing your new and improved shot in live play!

    Not able to attend the Wedding Dance Rescue class, but still looking for some guidance for the big day? Feel free to register for a 75-minute private wedding dance lesson with Deanna! All dance pairs are welcome! In a private dance lesson, you will get individualized instruction on how to execute your special dance. Once you're registered, Deanna will contact you to gather information and schedule lesson dates/times. You will enroll to the waitlist and then payment is taken once the lesson is scheduled. Private lessons will take place at the Orono Activities Center.
