    ACT College Examination Preparatory Course - Self-paced Virtual Class

    Register for the self-paced online course and have access and complete preparation for the ACT at your own pace. Register for this section through May 31, 2024. Instruction for all areas tested will be provided with focal points on diagnostic testing, science reasoning, math review and strategies, reading comprehension improvement, English strategies, writing essays, overcoming test anxiety and time management. Please have notebook paper, pencils and a calculator available for class. Students may repeat the course as often as they desire for no additional cost. Once enrolled, students are sent an access code for their class via email and can begin preparing right away.     Have you ever wanted to learn the guitar but simply find it difficult to find the time? In just a few hours, you can learn enough about playing the guitar to give you years of musical enjoyment, and you won’t have to take private lessons to do it. This course will teach basic chords and get you playing along with your favorite songs right away. Since this class is being held online with ZOOM, you will be able to sit at home with your guitar and take this class without any pressure at all. The class includes an online book, online follow-up video lessons and a recording of the class so you will be able to continue your practice and study on your own. An optional online question and answer session is also included. Topics include: how chords work in a song, how to form the three main types of chords, how to tune your guitar, basic strumming patterns, how to buy a good guitar (things to avoid) and how to play along with simple tunes. Participants ages 13-17 must have an adult guardian present during the virtual lesson.

    In just a few hours, you can learn enough secrets of the trade to give you years of musical enjoyment. Learn to play piano the way professionals do using chords. Since this class is being held online with ZOOM, you will be able to sit at your piano or keyboard at home and take this course with no pressure at all. This course includes an online book and follow up video lessons so you will be able to continue your practice and study on your own. An optional question and answer session and a recording of the class is included as well. The course is part lecture/demonstration and part hands-on instruction. Topics include: how chords work in a song, how to get more out of sheet music by reading less of it, how to form the three main types of chords, how to handle different keys and time signatures, how to avoid “counting” and how to simplify over 12,000 complex chords. Participants ages 13-17 must have an adult guardian present.

    CPR, First Aid & AED

    This blended learning (online learning and in-person skills) session will help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies. Successful participants will receive a 2-year Red Cross certificate for Adult and Pediatric (infant and child) CPR, First Aid and AED. Register at least 10 days prior to the in-person skills date, as adequate time is needed to complete the online learning portion PRIOR to testing for the skills. This will allow you the time to complete lessons at your own pace. You will need to provide the instructor with proof of online completion in order to take part in the skills testing. Online learning details will be sent via email. A personal email address is required to receive class content. A work-affiliated email address will not work.
