    Aqua Exercise

    Join us for a low impact, double benefit workout. This class will benefit your joints and overall health by working on cardio and resistance training. Participants should be comfortable in the water. Aquatic Fitness punch cards do not apply toward this class.

    Diving Camp - Beginner & Intermediate

    This camp is designed for beginner to intermediate divers. Beginner participants will learn fundamental diving skills and basic dives in this class. These divers will start with diving from the side of the pool and progress to a front dive with approach from the diving board. If students have already taken a beginner class, they will work on more advanced skills, which will help them to prepare for competitive diving.

    Diving Camp - Intermediate & Advanced

    This camp is for students in grades who have had past experience with diving. Whether you have taken diving camps before or are already on a high school team looking for continuous instruction in the off-season, this camp is for you! Sarah is a trained high school diving coach that will provide instruction on intermediate to advanced diving skills.

    Lap Swim

    There are six lanes available for lap swim, and the diving well is accessible for self-guided aqua exercise. Morning lap swim is open to adults and students over 15 years of age. Afternoon lap swim is 18+yo. There will be pool supervision during this time, but no lifeguard on duty. Please swim at your own risk. Check-in at the Community Education office through Door E24 for 11:30 - 1pm lap swim. Dates: Dates: September 4 - December 30 Monday, Wednesday & Friday: 6:15 - 7:30 am Tuesday & Thursday, Lunchtime Lap: 11:30 - 1:00 pm (Locker rooms are available) Fitness cards may be purchased at the pool or online.     Masters Swim

    Participants must register with US Masters swimming at www.usms.org. The Membership is $52 for the calendar year; which includes the US Masters and MN Masters registration fees. Fee is prorated depending on time of year you register. Swim workouts available upon request.     Open Swim

    Open to adults and children. Children twelve and younger must be accompanied by an adult in the pool facility. Payment is taken at the pool - cash or check accepted; $6/individual, $18/family (up to 5 ppl), FREE for Orono Activities Center members (please scan in at the pool with your OAC membership card). Two lanes will be available for lap swim. Punch cards to not apply. You do not need to pre-register online, please come as your schedule allows. Enter through doors E24 to access the pool.   • Swim Lessons - Private/Semi-Private

    Private/Semi-Private Swim Lessons Each swimmer must register individually. Please register online to add your name to the waitlist. Lessons will be scheduled in order by the date registration is received. Once we have contacted all parties on the waiting list, we will offer up more lessons per family if they are available. We will connect with you to coordinate a time that works based on schedule availability. You will be charged for the lessons once they are scheduled. You must pay for the complete session, no reimbursement for missed lessons. Private Swim Lessons - $112/Four 30-minute lessons Semi-private lessons - $92/Four 30-minute lessons per participant Dates & Times: Lessons available for this session will be Tuesday or Thursday mornings or Saturday afternoons.     Swim Lessons: Level 1

    Introduction to Water Skills MUST BE AT LEAST 5 YEARS OLD. Tentative in and around water, uncomfortable submerging head and not yet floating independently. Course Content: Learn to Swim, Level 1helps participants feel comfortable in the water. Skills covered include: bobbing, retrieving objects underwater, front and back glides, back float, tread water using arms and hands, combined arm and leg actions on front and back, and age-appropriate water safety topics. Exit Skills: Enter independently, using either the ladder, steps or side Travel at least 5 yards, bob 5 times then safely exit the water. (Participants can walk, move along the gutter or "swim.") Glide on front at least 2 body lengths, roll to a back float for 5 seconds and recover to a vertical position. (This part of the assessment can be performed with support.)     Swim Lessons: Level 2

    Fundamental Aquatics Skills MUST BE AT LEAST 5 YEARS OLD. Comfortable in water, submerges head and floats independently. Course Content: This level allows students to succeed in the fundamentals of aquatic skills. These skills include: front, jellyfish and tuck floats, roll from front to back and back to front, change direction of travel while swimming on front or back, treading of water, combined arm and leg actions on front and back (working towards moving independently) and age-appropriate water safety topics. Exit Skills: Step from side into chest-deep water, move into a front float for 5 seconds, roll to back, float for 5 seconds then return to vertical position. Move into a back float for 5 seconds, roll to front then recover to a vertical position. Push off and swim using combined arm and leg actions on front for 5 body lengths, roll to back, float for 15 seconds, roll to the front then continue swimming for 5 body lengths.     Swim Lessons: Level 3

    Stroke Development Comfortable in deep water (5ft+), swims at least 5 yards on front with a coordinated stroke independently, swims at least 5 yards on back with a coordinated stroke independently. Course Content: Builds on fundamental skills with practice and distance and introduces skills used in deeper water. Skills include: headfirst entries from side in sitting and kneeling positions, bobbing while moving toward safety, rotary breathing, survival float, flutter, dolphin and scissors kick, front crawl, elementary backstroke, and age-appropriate water safety topics. Exit Skills: Jump into deep water from the side, tread or float for 1 minute then proceed to an exit point by swimming the front crawl and/or elementary backstroke for 15 yards. Push off in a streamline position then swim front crawl for 15 yards, change position and direction as necessary, then swim elementary backstroke for 15 yards before exiting the water.     Swim Lessons: Level 4

    Stroke Improvement Comfortable in deep water, swims at least 15 yards coordinated: front crawl, back crawl and knows breaststroke and dolphin kick. Course Content: Develops confidence and improves on Level 3 skills. Skills include: headfirst entries from side in compact and stride positions, swim under water, feet first surface dive, front and back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke and butterfly, flutter and dolphin kicks on back and age-appropriate water safety topics. Exit Skills: Perform a feet first entry into deep water, swim front crawl for 25 yards, change direction and position as necessary and swim elementary backstroke for 25 yards. Swim breaststroke for 15 yards, change direction and position as necessary and swim back crawl for 15 yards. Curriculum and levels are based on the Red Cross' Learn-to-Swim Program.     Swim Lessons: Parent & Child

    Parent & Child AGES 6 MONTHS - 2 YEARS *A parent/adult is required to accompany each child in the water. Enjoy swimming with your child while building swimming readiness by emphasizing fun and safety in the water. Course Content: This class familiarizes young children to the water while increasing comfort through caretaker/child activities, water toys and class games. Caretakers will learn safety information and techniques to help orient children as they explore their first experiences in the pool.     Swim Lessons: Preschool Level 2

    Preschool Level 2 AGES 3 - 5 YEARS OLD For the preschool age swimmer who is comfortable voluntary submerging under water. Course Content: This level helps preschool age children gain greater independence in their skills and develop more comfort in and around the water building on the skills of Preschool Level 1. Skills covered in the level include: bobbing, front and back floats and glides, retrieving objects underwater, using combined arm and leg actions on front and back and treading water. A parent/adult may accompany the child in the water. Exit Skills: Glide on front for 2 body lengths, roll to back and float for 15 seconds, then recover to a vertical position. Repeat starting on back and rolling to front. Swim using combined arm and leg actions on front for 3 body lengths then roll on back and float for 15 seconds. Roll to front and continue swimming for 3 body lengths. Curriculum and levels are based on the Red Cross' Learn-to-Swim Program.
