    The Engineering for Kids Jr. STEM Club introduces students to a new, hands-on lesson every week from various engineering disciplines. For each lesson, students focus on developing 21st century skills such as problem solving, critical thinking and peer collaboration.     The Engineering For Kids Jr. STEM Club introduces students to a new, hands-on lesson every week from various engineering disciplines. For each lesson, students focus on developing 21st century skills such as problem solving, critical thinking and peer collaboration. Lessons: Acoustic Engineering - Harmonica: Students explore sound and make music with their own harmonica. Mechanical Engineering - Worm Puppets: Students explore mechanical engineering and engineer their own worm puppet. Aerospace Engineering - Glider: Students learn about aerospace engineering, understand the principles of flight and apply them to make their own glider. Jr. Civil Engineering - Three Little Pigs Challenge: Using the materials provided, can you create a house for your pig that can withstand the effects of different wind speeds? Materials kit will be provided, and we will send an email when ready to pick up. We’ll use Google Meet and students will need their own basic supplies: scissors, ruler, pencil and coloring materials.

    Smash into virtual walls to tear down castles or navigate a labyrinth maze. We will code virtual robots, using VEXcode VR. VEXcode VR lets you code a virtual robot using a block-based coding environment powered by Scratch Blocks. VEXcode VR is based on VEXcode. Create robotic mayhem in a virtual playground while igniting a lifelong love of problem-solving.     If you’ve taken an YEL Advanced Coding with Scratch® class, or have prior Scratch® coding experience, this class is for you! This is an advanced course and students should be comfortable with coding using multiple sprites, backgrounds and scripts. Students will be learning about variables, programming music with extensions, my blocks and will even design their own sprite to use in a video game! Two advanced video games will be created. Students will be given a Scratch® user account. More details will be sent to those that register on how to join the class.
