    Ice Skating: Basic 1, 2 & 3

    Indoor Lessons at the Orono Ice Arena We are proud to provide the Learn to Skate USA curriculum for our lessons. We teach fundamentals of ice skating while building confidence and skills through each lesson. The progressive curriculum ensures success from the first steps on the ice to the mastery of advanced skills. Highly Qualified USFSA trained coaching staff. Program Director, Mary Tichy is a USFSA double gold medalist (figures and freestyle) with over 24 years of skating experience and over 18 years of coaching experience. Basic 1 - 7 recommended for ages 6 and up Skill Level Descriptions Skaters will be divided into levels on the first day of class. Basic 1: Stronger forward skating, gliding, snowplow stop Basic 2: Backward skating, one-foot glide, turn forward to backward, pumping on circle Basic 3: Two-foot turn, backward pumping on circle, forward two-foot sways What you should know before your skating lessons! Children should dress warmly (jackets, hats,mittens, etc.) because the arena is cold. Beginning skaters MUST wear helmets. Wear either leather hockey or figure skates, but please no double bladed skates. Parents are not allowed on the ice without skates. If you are wearing skates you may join your child in the practice area, but not in the lesson area. Additional lesson information will be sent out via email.

Beginning skaters MUST wear helmets. Wear either leather hockey or figure skates, but please no double bladed skates. Parents are not allowed on the ice without skates.     Ice Skating: Semi-private Lessons

Semi-Private Lessons: 30 minutes/7 lessons - $140 (Maximum of 4 students per group) Snowplow Sam - Beginner: Learn to stand, fall and move across ice. Snowplow Sam - Intermediate/Advanced: Learn striding, gliding and edging. Must be able to comfortably move across the ice. Skill Level Descriptions Snowplow Sam classes recommended for ages 4 - 5 Skaters will be divided into appropriate skill levels on first day. Snowplow Sam - Beginner: Learn to stand, fall and move across ice safely. Must be able to attempt standing on the ice. Snowplow Sam - Intermediate/Advanced: Learn striding, gliding and edging Each lesson includes 30 minutes of instruction and 30 minutes of free practice time either prior to or after your lesson. What you should know before your skating lessons! Children should dress warmly (jackets, hats, mittens, etc.) because the arena is cold. Beginning skaters MUST wear helmets.
