Surviving Winter in the Early 1900s

Adult Enrichment / Special Interest & Hobbies -
Winter/Spring 2025
Join historian Bob Gasch as he showcases artifacts and shares stories about everything from ice boats and ice cutting to mail delivery on unplowed roads in the Orono area. Learn about antique skis, ice skates, sleighs, and even Model T Ford snowmobiles. Winter in the early 1900s was a challenging season, but the Western Hennepin County Pioneer Association brings it to life with photographs and artifacts that reveal how people not only survived but found ways to enjoy it. A special feature of this program will be the story about the gigantic toboggan slide that sent you out across the ice on Lake Minnetonka!
