Mosaic art involves assembling small pieces of colorful fragments of glass into cohesive patterns or images. This class will provide a hands-on experience where you'll learn the fundamentals of this art form. You'll learn techniques for cutting, arranging, and adhering pieces to a small picture frame, approximately 8” x 10”. We’ll choose “cathedral” glass that will make the light come through when hung in your window at home. All tools and materials are available at our glass studio. A $20 material fee is payable to the instructor at the start of class. Children age 14 and older are welcome to register if attending with a registered adult.
Cindy is the Stained Glass Instructor for Orono Community Education and Wayzata Community Education. In 2003 the Discovery Center opened the Stained Glass Studio, where Cindy shares her love of stained glass with others. It had always been Cindy's dream to have a studio for people to learn, create and enjoy. Her studies include: Colorado State University, stained glass study at local studios, Orono Community Education, and hands-on learning. "I always learn something new whenever I teach. It's fun to see how students interpret the techniques I teach. I'm truly happy to be able to see the beautiful art that happens, in so many different applications." Cindy has been sharing her passion for stained glass with students for many years.
