  • Back-to-School Box Workshop

    Join Board & Brush for a fun art class designed for teachers, parents, and others preparing for the new school year! In this hands-on workshop, you’ll assemble, stain, and paint a versatile 14 x 4 x 6 wooden box, perfect for organizing your classroom or home. Choose from three different design options for your box. With a variety of stain options and paint colors to choose from, you'll create a personalized and functional piece to take with you at the end of class.   • Beginner Stained Glass Window

    Create a beautiful stained glass window approximately 8” x 10” in size. This class is for both beginner and experienced stained glass participants! The copper foil technique will be taught from cutting to assembly. The first night focuses on choosing a pattern and discussing colors of glass, equipment and layout. The other sessions will focus on assembling your stained glass window. Glass and materials are purchased directly from the instructor at class - approximately $65. Tool kits are provided. Please bring safety glasses to use while cutting and grinding glass. This class includes one free Saturday morning Open Studio visit. Call to register participants ages 14-17 (must attend with an enrolled adult).
  • Chalkboard Hand Lettering

    Learn the fundamentals of hand-drawn lettering on chalkboards, similar to the styles you’ve admired at coffee shops or events! The instructor will break down the steps, and show you how to master spacing, composition, and letter formation, regardless of your handwriting. You’ll also explore decorative flourishes to bring your designs to life. Leave with your own mini chalkboard to continue to practice at home! All materials are included in the cost.   • Children's Growth Ruler Workshop

    Join us for a fun workshop, taught by Board & Brush, where you’ll craft a charming children’s growth ruler from wood - a keepsake that captures memories year after year! In this hands-on class, you’ll work with a 50-inch wooden board designed to hang on the wall and record your child’s height as they grow. Choose from three design themes: cheerful rainbows, playful balloons, or a simple, single-color finish. Stain options will be available at class.   • Crochet 101: Daisy Coasters

    Spring into the art of crochet with this fun and creative class! With step-by-step guidance, you'll create two charming daisy-shaped coasters, the perfect addition to any spring table setting! Whether you're looking to refresh your crochet skills or try something new, this class is designed for all levels, with beginners welcome! All materials, including yarn and crochet hooks, will be provided.
  • Family Porch Sign Workshop

    Join us for a fun, three-hour workshop with Board & Brush, where you’ll create a beautiful and personalized 50-inch family porch sign! Perfect for adding a welcoming touch to your entryway, this workshop lets you choose from three unique designs: a vibrant sunflower, charming florals, or a classic single-color stained finish. Each sign can be personalized with your family name, making it a truly unique addition to your home decor.   • Fused Glass Garden Art

    Add a flash of color to your pots, planters, flowerbeds or garden! In this class, you will create a fused glass totem and stake. Additional items can be made during class for an extra material fee. Due to the fusing cycle, you will need to return to the studio the following Wednesday evening or make arrangements with the instructors to pick up your piece. A $20 material fee is payable to the instructor at the start of class.
  • Fused Glass Open Studio

    Fused Glass Open Studio provides time and space to create fused glass projects for beginner and advanced participants. A facilitator will be on hand for advice and support. A $25 material fee will be collected at the studio for each new punch card. Participants are asked to bring their own glass (COE90-preferred), cutting tools and molds (sharing of materials is also an option). It is recommended that participants have taken at least one fused glass class before joining Open Studio. Punch cards have 8 punches and are valid for 12 months.

  • Glass Mosaic Bird Bath

    Join us this spring to make a one-of-a-kind bird bath. In this class, you will decorate a terra-cotta drip tray with pieces of stained glass. The bird bath can be placed on the ground or on a wrought-iron stand (not included). Grouting will take place on the second day of class, and if weather permits, students will grout outdoors. A $20 material fee is payable to the instructor at the start of class. Register for the Glass Mosaic Terracotta Pot class on March 10 and 11 to create a matching stand for your bird bath!

    Learn the art of macramé in this hands-on workshop, where you’ll create a custom plant hanger for your home. Master essential macramé knots including: the lark’s head, spiral, and square. Combine them to design a hanger that’s uniquely yours. Add accent colors with wooden beads or embroidery floss, or keep it all-natural. Grab a friend, get creative, and learn how to craft a macramé plant hanger that brings both greenery and artistry into your space.

    Paint Night

    Spend a fun and relaxing night painting. Local artist Kevin Kluever will guide painters of all abilities through a piece from start to finish.   • Paint Your Cabin

    Escape to your favorite place with paintbrush in hand! Join artist Kevin for a unique two-hour painting class where you’ll create a custom landscape of your cabin, lake house, farm, or home. Before the class, simply submit a photo of your special retreat, and Kevin will personally sketch the image onto a canvas board, ensuring you’re ready to start painting right away. No experience necessary! In this hands-on session, Kevin will guide you step-by-step through mixing colors and painting techniques to bring your scene to life. You’ll leave with a one-of-a-kind piece of art that captures the essence of your favorite place. All supplies included. Please send a photo of your cabin or lakehouse to tara.st.martin@orono.k12.mn.us at least one week prior to class.

    Stained Glass Open Studio provides time and space to work on your projects whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced worker. This is a great time to create smaller projects even if you have no experience cutting glass. A facilitator is available for advice and support. Purchase an 8-punch card and receive an area to store supplies, tools, and your projects. Punch cards are valid for 12 months. Students can group order glass and supplies.
