    ACT College Examination Preparatory Course - Self-paced Virtual Class

    Register for the self-paced online course and have access and complete preparation for the ACT at your own pace. Register for this section through May 31, 2024. Instruction for all areas tested will be provided with focal points on diagnostic testing, science reasoning, math review and strategies, reading comprehension improvement, English strategies, writing essays, overcoming test anxiety and time management. Please have notebook paper, pencils and a calculator available for class. Students may repeat the course as often as they desire for no additional cost. Once enrolled, students are sent an access code for their class via email and can begin preparing right away. VERY IMPORTANT - you must have a Google account with a @gmail.com email address in order to access the Online ACT Prep Course through Google Classroom. Remember, the Gmail account that you use to join the online course is the ONLY email address that you will be allowed to use during the online course. Please Note - If you have a school-issued email address, even if it is a Gmail address, it is blocked for access to Google Classroom.

    CPR, First Aid & AED

    This blended learning (online learning and in-person skills) session will help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies. Successful participants will receive a 2-year Red Cross certificate for Adult and Pediatric (infant and child) CPR, First Aid and AED. Register at least 10 days prior to the in-person skills date, as adequate time is needed to complete the online learning portion PRIOR to testing for the skills. This will allow you the time to complete lessons at your own pace. You will need to provide the instructor with proof of online completion in order to take part in the skills testing. Online learning details will be sent via email. A personal email address is required to receive class content. A work-affiliated email address will not work.     Day Camp at Skyrock

    Spend your day on the farm at Skyrock! Learn all about horses, how to groom and care for a horse and common horse vocabulary. Enjoy a ride on a pony too! Then we’ll take a guided nature hike of the entire farm, weather permitting. There will also be time to hang out in the clubhouse, play games, make new friends and much more. Join us for a day of adventure on the farm! Bring a bag lunch, water and a nut-free snack. Dress for the weather.
  • Early Learning Hour at the Orono Activities Center

    A time for families with children under the age of 5 to run, play and get the wiggles out at the Orono Activities Center. One court will be reserved and set-up with age-appropriate equipment. The walking track is available for use. Strollers can also be used. No need to pre-register online. Please check-in at the front desk upon arrival.
  • Early Learning Splash Hour

    Spend an hour in the pool with your young swimmer. Toys, floaties and balls provided. Parent/guardian must accompany the child in the water. Coast Guard-approved life jacket recommended. If there are two or more children per adult, all children must wear a life jacket. Swim diapers are required for children not potty-trained. Check-in at the Community Education office through Door E24. Please bring your ID for entry into the school building. You do not need to pre-register. Session will show as full but it is NOT full.

    Famous Scientists for Kids - At Home STEM Kit

    Inspire and encourage growing minds to do big things with real-life examples and exciting hands-on scientific exploration! Learn through hands-on, mini experiments from scientists who became famous from being excited about science and working hard to learn and discover new things! Kit available to order through May 15.   • Fitness Punch Card

    Purchase a Fitness Punch Card and drop into any adult fitness class on your time and your schedule. This is the perfect option if you cannot commit to a full class or want to try multiple different types of classes. Punch cards are valid for 6 months. Purchase another card if you run out of punches! Punch cards are kept in the Activities Center Fitness Room (30 & 31). The punch card is NOT VALID for pickleball classes, aquatics programs, virtual classes, private lessons or open gyms. Senior and Activities Center Membership discounts can not be applied toward a Punch Card purchase. Please contact our office at 952-449-8350 to confirm that a class has enough enrollments to run before dropping in for the first time.
  • From Nest to Next: A Workshop for Families of College-bound Students

    Following this workshop, families will have a sense of confidence about the next steps for their student after their admissions decision. Families will learn how to support their child through the transition from high school to college, practice self care (families and students) and navigate the language of college. This is a great opportunity to build a support network with fellow families of future first-year college students.
  • Fused Glass Garden Art

    Embellish your garden pot, patio planter or flower bed with colorful fused glass. A $20 material fee is payable to the instructors at class. You will make one totem and one stake. If you want to make additional items during class, an additional material fee will need to be paid. Due to the fusing cycle, you will need to return to the studio the following Wednesday evening or make arrangements with the instructors to pick up your piece. This unique piece will bring a flash of color to your garden or yard!
  • Fused Glass Open Studio

    Fused Glass Open Studio provides time and space to create fused glass projects for beginner and advanced participants. A facilitator will be on hand for advice and support. A $25 supply fee will be collected at the studio for each new punch card. Participants are asked to bring their own glass (COE90-preferred), cutting tools and molds (sharing of materials is also an option). It is recommended that participants have taken at least one fused glass class before joining Open Studio. Punch cards have 8 punches and are valid for 12 months.

    Lap Swim

    Dates: January 3 - May 31 Monday, Wednesday & Friday: 6:15 - 7:30 am Tuesday & Thursday Lunchtime Lap: 12:00 - 1:00 pm (Locker rooms are available) There are six lanes available for lap swim and the diving well is accessible for self-guided aqua exercise. Morning lap swim is open to adults and students over 15 years of age. Lunchtime lap swim is for adults 18 years or older. Check-in at the Community Education office through Door E24. Please bring your ID for entry into the school building.     Masters Swim

U.S. Masters Swimming is a national membership-oriented nonprofit that provides membership benefits to swimmers across the country. Self-led with swim workouts available upon request.     Payment is taken at the pool - cash or check accepted. $6 per person or $18 per family (up to 5 people) You do not need to pre-register. Drop in when your schedule allows. Two lanes will be available for lap swim.
  • Pickleball Private & Small Group Lessons

    Whether you are just starting out or looking to further your pickleball play, Paul can customize a plan to improve your game at all levels. For group lessons, each player from the group must register individually. Please register online to add your name to the waitlist. Once all players from the group have registered, we will connect you with Paul, the instructor, to coordinate a date/time that works for all. You will be charged for the lesson after it has been scheduled. If you are a "No Show" for a scheduled lesson, you are still responsible for the fee. Lessons can be scheduled outdoors at the Orono Intermediate School courts in late Spring. Locations may change due to weather and maintenance schedules.   • Pickleball Skills & Drills - Beginner

    Join us for an introductory class to learn all about the equipment, court, scoring and rules of pickleball. This sport is a combination of ping-pong, badminton and tennis, yet is much easier to learn than any of these. We base this class on practicing the essential elements of the game such as the serve, the return, the forehand and backhand, the dink shot and the importance of court positioning and shot selection. Soon you will understand why pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the U.S.!

    Not able to attend the Wedding Dance Rescue class, but still looking for some guidance for the big day? Feel free to register for a 75-minute private wedding dance lesson with Deanna! All dance pairs are welcome! In a private dance lesson, you will get individualized instruction on how to execute your special dance. Once you're registered, Deanna will contact you to gather information and schedule lesson dates/times. You will enroll to the waitlist and then payment is taken once the lesson is scheduled. Private lessons will take place at the Orono Activities Center.
