  • 55+ Driver Discount Program

    IMPORTANT NOTE! Registration for this course is not taken through Orono Community Education. For more information and to register for this course, go to mnsafetycenter.org or call TOLL FREE 1(888)-234-1294. This driver discount program is a state-approved accident prevention/insurance discount course that is open to the public. Pre-registration is required. This class is taught by a MN Highway Safety & Research Center certified instructor. By utilizing the most up-to-date research in the field, participants will be provided the latest information in regard to driver and traffic safety, new laws, and vehicle technology. Persons ages 55 and older who complete the course qualify for a 10% discount on their auto insurance premiums for three years, according to Minnesota law. First time participants must complete the initial four hours of training and a four-hour refresher class every three years to maintain the 10% discount.

  • Autumn Baking Bliss - Virtual Class

    Join Chef Tess for a fun, step-by-step cook-along where you’ll make Pumpkin Spice Cinnamon Rolls (with real pumpkin!) a creamy, spiced frosting, plus Panera®-style Cinnamon Crunch Bagels with cinnamon chips, and a sweet crunchy topping. Perfect for all skill levels, this class brings the cozy, comforting flavors of fall right to your kitchen. Cooking along is optional, and you'll receive access to info, a shopping list, and class details in advance. After class, registered participants will get a packet with the instructor's personal recipes.
  • Beginner Stained Glass Window

    Create a beautiful stained glass window approximately 8” x 10” in size. This class is for both beginner and experienced stained glass participants! The copper foil technique will be taught from cutting to assembly. The first night, you'll choose a pattern and discuss colors of glass, equipment, and layout. The other sessions will focus on assembling your stained glass window. Glass and materials are purchased directly from the instructor at class - approximately $65. Tool kits are provided. Please bring safety glasses to use while cutting and grinding glass. This class includes one free Saturday morning Open Studio visit.     CPR, First Aid & AED

    This blended learning (online learning and in-person skills) session will help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing, and first aid emergencies. Successful participants will receive a two-year Red Cross certificate for Adult and Pediatric (infant and child) CPR, First Aid and AED. Register at least 10 days prior to the in-person skills date, as time is needed to complete the online learning portion PRIOR to testing in person for the skills. This will allow you the time to complete lessons at your own pace. You will need to provide the instructor with proof of online completion in order to take part in the skills testing. Additional details regarding online learning session will be sent via email. A personal email address is required to receive class content.   • Fitness Punch Card

    Purchase a Fitness Punch Card and drop into any adult fitness class on your time and your schedule. This is the perfect option if you cannot commit to a full class or want to try multiple different types of classes. Punch cards are valid for 6 months. Purchase another card if you run out of punches! Punch cards are kept in the Activities Center Fitness Room (30 & 31). The punch card is NOT VALID for pickleball classes, aquatics programs, virtual classes, private lessons or open gyms. Senior and Activities Center Membership discounts can not be applied toward a Punch Card purchase. Please contact our office at 952-449-8350 to confirm that a class has enough enrollments to run before dropping in for the first time.
  • Fused Glass Cutting Board

    Learn how to fuse and cut glass to create a one-of-a-kind, food-safe cutting board. Perfect for slicing fruit, cheese, or other small items. Each board will measure 8" x 8". A $25 material fee, which covers glass and firing, is payable the night of class to the instructors. Please note: Due to the glass fusing process, your cutting board will be ready for pickup on Wednesday, September 24 between 7 and 9 PM.
  • Fused Glass Holiday Ornaments

    Embellish your tree, gifts, or home with holiday-themed fused glass! Choose from a variety of simple ornament styles (snowmen, trees, snowflakes) to create holiday decor. A $20 material fee, which covers glass and firing for four ornaments, is payable the night of class to the instructors. Each additional ornament will be $5. Please note: Due to the kiln-firing process, your finished ornaments will be ready for pickup the following Wednesday.
  • Fused Glass Open Studio

    Fused Glass Open Studio provides time and space to create fused glass projects for beginner and advanced participants. A facilitator will be on hand for advice and support. A $25 material fee will be collected at the studio for each new punch card. Participants are asked to bring their own glass (COE90-preferred), cutting tools and molds (sharing of materials is also an option). It is recommended that participants have taken at least one fused glass class before joining Open Studio. Punch cards have 8 punches and are valid for 12 months.
  • Fused Glass Trio of Trees

    Create a whimsical trio of fused glass trees using colorful glass accessories like stringers, noodles, frit balls, and scrap glass. After your designs are fused in the kiln, each tree will be mounted into a natural wood base made from a cross-section of a tree branch (provided). A $15 materials fee is payable to the instructor at the start of class. Please note: Due to the kiln-firing process, your finished trees will be ready for pickup the following Wednesday, October 15, 7-9pm.

  • Gingerbread House Bake & Build - Virtual Class

    Gather the whole family and have fun baking and building your own gingerbread house from scratch! You’ll make gingerbread dough to create the house pieces and whip up royal icing to “glue” and decorate with candies. A detailed packet with the ingredient list, prep instructions, a gingerbread recipe, and a printable house template will be sent before class for easy preparation. Whether starting a new tradition or continuing one, this class will leave you with a beautiful gingerbread house and sweet memories to enjoy together!
  • Holiday Charcuterie Board

    Elevate your holiday gatherings this season with a beautifully crafted charcuterie board. Laura, from Fig and Ivy Charcuterie, will provide step-by-step guidance in the arrangement of fine cheeses, meats, and additional accompaniments. Your board will be a perfectly festive (and edible) centerpiece! Have fun with family and friends at Iron Exchange in Maple Plain. Food and beverages are available to purchase during class. A link to pay the ingredient fee of $40 will be sent out one week prior to the class. Bring home a new experience, a helpful grocery list for future boards, PLUS an artfully arranged 10” round charcuterie board (serves 5-6 people) to enjoy right away!
